Inter Cruise Past Bologna Behind Clinical Finishing

Must read

Inter Milan made their dominance count with a convincing 3-1 victory over Bologna at San Siro, extending their Serie A momentum despite a late consolation for the visitors.

The Nerazzurri controlled proceedings from the opening whistle, monopolizing 57.6% possession and peppering Federico Ravaglia’s goal with 19 shots. The Bologna goalkeeper had a heroic afternoon, making seven crucial saves to keep the scoreline respectable, but even his brilliance couldn’t prevent Inter’s quality from shining through.

Piotr Zieliński broke the deadlock in the 39th minute, rewarding Inter’s first-half pressure. The Polish midfielder’s opener set the tone for what would be a comfortable afternoon’s work. Just three minutes after the restart, captain Lautaro Martínez doubled the advantage, showcasing his link-up play with four key passes while also finding the net himself.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu orchestrated proceedings from midfield despite picking up a yellow card, contributing five key passes and an assist in a masterful display. Marcus Thuram added the third in the 74th minute with his 8.9-rated performance, effectively sealing the points before being withdrawn.

Bologna showed spirit despite their struggles, registering just six shots compared to Inter’s 19. Santiago Castro grabbed a late consolation in the 83rd minute after Charalampos Lykogiannis’ assist, giving the scoreline a slightly more competitive sheen.

The visitors’ defensive discipline crumbled under relentless pressure, with Inter completing passes at a 90% clip and winning 70% of their tackles. Bologna’s nine interceptions weren’t enough to stem the tide, as Alessandro Bastoni and the defensive unit comfortably managed the back line.

With clinical finishing and complete midfield control, Inter sent a message to Serie A rivals that they remain serious title contenders in 2026.
