Austin FC Completes Record Transfer of Osman Bukari to Polish Club

Must read

Austin FC has completed the transfer of winger Osman Bukari to Polish Ekstraklasa side Widzew Łódź in a deal that sets a new transfer fee record for departures to the Polish top flight, the club announced Thursday.

The move brings significant financial benefits to Austin FC while also providing crucial roster flexibility ahead of the 2026 MLS season. The Verde & Black will now have the option to build their squad using either the U-22 Initiative Model or the traditional Designated Player Model, giving head coach Josh Wolff enhanced tactical options for roster construction.

Bukari joined Austin FC during the summer 2024 transfer window and made an immediate impact in Texas. Over his 18-month stint, the Ghanaian international featured in 50 matches across all competitions, contributing 4 goals and 10 assists. His pace and creativity on the wing made him a valuable asset in Austin’s attacking setup.

The record fee received from Widzew Łódź represents a significant piece of business for Austin FC, demonstrating the club’s ability to develop and sell players at a profit while competing in MLS. The additional allocation money gained through the U-22 Initiative Model option could prove instrumental in strengthening the roster for the upcoming campaign.

For Bukari, the move to Widzew Łódź offers a new challenge in European football. The historic Polish club will look to utilize his speed and playmaking abilities as they compete in the Ekstraklasa.

Austin FC has not yet announced Bukari’s replacement as they continue preparations for the 2026 season.
