Sounders’ Nouhou and Minoungou Called Up for 2025 AFCON
Seattle Sounders defenders Nouhou and Georgi Minoungou have been selected to represent their respective national teams at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, through January 18, 2026.
Nouhou will make his third AFCON appearance for Cameroon, who have been drawn into Group F alongside Gabon, Ivory Coast, and Mozambique. The left back has been a consistent presence for the Indomitable Lions in recent tournaments and brings significant international experience to the squad.
For Minoungou, the tournament represents a milestone as he earns his first AFCON call-up with Burkina Faso. The Stallions have been placed in Group E, where they will face Equatorial Guinea, Algeria, and Sudan in the group stage.
Both players have been regular contributors for Seattle during the 2025 season. Nouhou featured in 40 matches and scored two goals, while Minoungou appeared 32 times, recording two goals and four assists for the Sounders.
The tournament’s timing means both players will miss a portion of the MLS preseason, with their return dates dependent on how far their respective nations advance in the competition.
