Earthquakes Lock Down Rookie Sensation Through 2028
The San Jose Earthquakes just made sure their breakout rookie isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Beau Leroux, who lit up the field in his first MLS campaign, has put pen to paper on a contract extension that keeps him in black and blue through June 2028, with an option for another year beyond that. The club announced the deal Monday, sending a clear message that they’re building around their young talent.
For a 22-year-old midfielder who was picked 42nd overall in the 2024 SuperDraft, Leroux’s rookie season was nothing short of spectacular. Five goals and four assists across 33 appearances (25 starts) earned him San Jose’s Young Player of the Year Award. Not bad for a guy who spent time developing with The Town FC in MLS NEXT Pro before making the jump.
Bruce Arena Sees a Future Star
Head coach and sporting director Bruce Arena didn’t mince words about what this signing means for the organization.
“We’re pleased to sign Beau Leroux to a new contract. Beau has a bright future in this league. We look forward to seeing him continue to grow and contribute to the team in 2026.”
Arena’s known for his no-nonsense evaluations, so when he says a player has a bright future, you better believe it. The Quakes clearly see Leroux as a cornerstone piece of their rebuild, and locking him down through his prime development years is a smart move.
What This Means for San Jose
The extension signals that San Jose is serious about stability and youth development. Leroux came through their own system via The Town FC, flourished immediately at the MLS level, and now gets rewarded with security and a vote of confidence.
His ability to contribute immediately while still having massive upside makes this deal a potential steal for the Earthquakes. Nine goal contributions in your rookie year? That’s the kind of production that gets expensive quickly. San Jose just locked it in before the price tag went through the roof.
The Quakes kick off their 2026 campaign on February 21st against Sporting Kansas City at 10:30 pm ET on Apple TV. Expect Leroux to be right in the middle of whatever San Jose’s cooking up for next season.
