Oregon Silences Texas Tech In Orange Bowl Win

Must read

Another CFP Quarterfinal, another dominant performance. Oregon shut out Texas Tech in the Orange Bowl, winning 23-0.

The Ducks’ defense was suffocating, forcing four turnovers while holding the Red Raiders to just 215 total yards. Brandon Finney Jr. led the defensive assault with two interceptions and six tackles, while Dillon Thieneman and Bryce Boettcher each recorded 12 tackles. Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton struggled mightily, completing just 18-of-32 passes for 137 yards with two interceptions.

Oregon controlled possession for a staggering 38 minutes, methodically wearing down the Red Raiders. Quarterback Dante Moore managed the game efficiently, going 26-of-33 for 234 yards despite throwing one interception. The Ducks spread the ball around effectively, with Jamari Johnson leading receivers with 66 yards on four catches and Malik Benson adding 51 yards on five receptions.

While the rushing attack averaged just 1.4 yards per carry, Jordon Davison proved clutch when it mattered most. He punched in both Oregon touchdowns—a 6-yarder in the third quarter and a 1-yard score with just 16 seconds remaining—to bookend the scoring.

Atticus Sappington added three field goals, including a 50-yarder in the first quarter that set the tone. The Ducks’ defense recorded four sacks, led by Teitum Tuioti’s two, and notched seven tackles for loss.

Texas Tech’s offensive struggles were exemplified by J’Koby Williams’ 81 rushing yards being their brightest spot in an otherwise forgettable performance. The shutout marks an emphatic statement from Oregon as they advance deeper into the College Football Playoff.
