Must read

Austin FC has signed midfielder Dani Pereira to a contract extension that keeps him with the club through the 2027-28 season, with an option for the 2028-29 campaign, the team announced Thursday.

Pereira, 27, holds a unique place in Austin FC history as the club’s first-ever MLS SuperDraft selection in 2020. He remains one of just five players from the inaugural 2021 roster still with the organization.

Over five seasons in Verde, Pereira has established himself as a consistent presence in the midfield, recording 156 appearances with six goals and 21 assists. His durability and productivity have made him a key figure in Austin’s evolution from expansion side to playoff contender.

\”Austin has become home for me and my family,\” Pereira said. \”This team and city mean a lot to me and I’m very grateful to sign a new contract to extend my time here.\”

The Venezuelan international has also earned eight caps for his national team, adding to his profile as one of Austin FC’s most experienced players. The extension provides continuity in the midfield as the club prepares for the 2026 MLS season.
